A busy start to April for Frome runners

On Monday, 2 April, over 400 local athletes lined up for the Yeovil Easter Bunny 10K. Two of Frome’s finest were also at the start line. Peter Grist (MSEN) completed the fast, flat course in 00:34:20, earning himself 5th position overall and 4th in category. Nick Cooper (MV50) finished a short time later in 00:43:09. The following Sunday, proved a busy day for races. More Frome runners took to the hills for the Penselwood Tough 10k. Joseph Donworth (MSEN) led the field for Frome, completing the scenic route in 00:35:48 to take 2nd position overall. He was followed by Ian Holmes (MV50) in 00:45:37 and Lynn Brand (FV50) in 00:52:59. On the same day, over in Wiltshire, a further contingent of Fromies took part in the Highworth 5-mile race. Peter Reed (MV40) finished in a time of 00:35:33, followed by Adrian Mead (MV40) in 00:43:30 and Anne Porter (FV55) in 00:45:22. This was race 1 in the Wiltshire Road Race League. Easter highlights for Frome Club runners

Frome Running Club fielded a healthy contingent of runners for the Yeovil Half marathon on Sunday 25, March. Starting and finishing in the town centre, the race takes runners out through Yeovil Country Park, past Montacute House and along quiet country roads. Keith Robinson (MV60-69) put in a storming performance, posting a time of 01:30:10 to bag 1st position in category. He was followed by Lynn Brand (FV50-59) in 01:49:43, Zoe Boulton (FV30-39) in 01:49:34, Steven Gumm (MV40-49) in 01:53:38, John Boulton (MV50-59) in 02:03:02, Dave Perrett (MV40-49) in 02:11:06 and Sarah Perrett (FV40-49) in 02:11:26. Over in Gloucestershire, more of Frome’s finest lined up for the Gloucester 20, a 20-mile race over gently undulating country roads and lanes. Pete Grist (MSEN) lead the charge with a time of 01:59:31, earning himself 9th position overall. Joseph Donworth (MSEN) was next across the line in 02:06:02, followed by Lee Stone (MV40) in 02:15:05 and Stuart Stenhouse (MSEN) in 03:14:19. For th
