Easter highlights for Frome Club runners

Frome Running Club fielded a healthy contingent of runners for the Yeovil Half marathon on Sunday 25, March. Starting and finishing in the town centre, the race takes runners out through Yeovil Country Park, past Montacute House and along quiet country roads. Keith Robinson (MV60-69) put in a storming performance, posting a time of 01:30:10 to bag 1st position in category. He was followed by Lynn Brand (FV50-59) in 01:49:43, Zoe Boulton (FV30-39) in 01:49:34, Steven Gumm (MV40-49) in 01:53:38, John Boulton (MV50-59) in 02:03:02, Dave Perrett (MV40-49) in 02:11:06 and Sarah Perrett (FV40-49) in 02:11:26.

Over in Gloucestershire, more of Frome’s finest lined up for the Gloucester 20, a 20-mile race over gently undulating country roads and lanes. Pete Grist (MSEN) lead the charge with a time of 01:59:31, earning himself 9th position overall. Joseph Donworth (MSEN) was next across the line in 02:06:02, followed by Lee Stone (MV40) in 02:15:05 and Stuart Stenhouse (MSEN) in 03:14:19.

For those looking to burn some calories before feasting on Easter eggs, the Chippenham Good Friday 10-Miler on Friday 30 March proved the ideal opportunity. This fast, flat course offers plenty of PB potential and Frome’s runners did not disappoint. Joseph Donworth (MSEN) stormed home in 00:57:25 to finish 5th overall. He was followed by Sara Elliott (FV55) whose PB time of 01:29:58 earned her 7th position in category. Laura Francis (FV35) finished in 01:30:09, followed by Sally Brooker (FV45) in 01:32:07 (PB), Sarah Perrett (FV35) in 01:36:32, Felicity Young (FV45) in 01:37:01 and Catharine Dowling (FV35) in 01:37:56.
