Frome Running Club Race report
September 2022
Paul Horton and Rachel Bala took on the challenge of the
Great Bristol Half Marathon on 25th September. Paul crossed the line in a very quick time of 1:28:16.
Equally impressive was Rachel’s finish time of 2:04:50.

On Saturday 17th September, George Leroy, Sally
Brooker, Anne Porter, Ben Spicer ran a new Relish Running race, a downhill 10km
challenge in Cheddar Gorge.
George finished 21st male (and 10th in
age category) in 39 minutes 34, Ben Spicer 49:04 (27th in age category), Anne
Porter 57:53 (giving her 6th in age category), Sally Brooker 1:00:52
(24th in age category) and Neil Shad 1:11:38 (54th in age
category).

The Wells Festival of Running took place on 11th
September in beautiful autumnal weather. Frome participants in the 10km race
included Alan Brawn who finished in 50:30, Ted Sprules (42:59), George Leroy
42:42 and Barrie Knight 51:51. Well done to all.

Ted Sprules also ran the Baltonsborough 5 mile road race
which was part of the Somerset Series. Ted completed this in 34:14 earning him
2nd place in age category. Great running, Ted.
We must also mention Julie Chilvers’ incredible effort in
the Iron Man held in Tenby. Julie completed the course in an astonishing
14:31:18, especially given the inclement weather conditions on the day. Superb
result, Julie.
