Frome Running Club Summer Report

Frome Running Club Summer Report

Frome Running Club was unable to hold the Mells Scenic 7 race this year, so instead, on Sunday 4th September, 25 intrepid FRC runners set off in 3 groups to run the course and all returned! Thanks go to Vicki, Dave, Lynn and Ian for leading the groups and preventing anyone getting lost. Also, many thanks to Vicki and Lynn for the post run cakes!

Frome runners at Old Showfield Park Run Saturday 3rd September

Over the past 10 weeks, Lynn Brand and Rachel Bala have been training a group of new runners, putting them through their paces on the Couch to 5km programme. This gutsy group gathered at the local Park Run on the Old Showfield on Saturday 3rd September to put their training to the test. Each and every one completed the course and were met with a glass of fizz at the end to celebrate their achievement. Well done to everyone involved.

 Race The Train in Twyn

Race the Train takes place alongside as far as practicable the route taken by the Talyllyn Railway on its journey to Abergynolwyn and back. In order to do this all courses use a mixture of public roads, lanes, un-metalled roads, tracks, agricultural land, and rough grazing pastures.

Ellie Burford penned the following: “I'm so chuffed, I beat the train second time around. It beat me by 21 seconds in 2019. Today I ran it in 52.31, the train finishes in 55 minutes. So pleased! A really fun but really tough trail 10k if anyone fancies it next year! Race the Train in Twywn.” Ellie was 7th woman and 3rd in her age group.
