FROME RUNNING CLUB RACE REPORT – JANUARY 2023 Slaughterford 9 On Sunday 22 nd January, 6 brave and hardy runners from Frome Running Club ran the infamous Slaughterford 9 in extremely cold and icy temperatures (on a weekend that saw all local Park Runs cancelled due to ice!). This is a multi-terrain race over 9 miles of steeply undulating countryside, carrying a sting in its tail! Whilst tackling 900 feet of ascent/descent in the Slaughterford valley, runners encountered tarmac, stony paths, fields, tracks (including underwater tracks) and even some green lanes. First home for Frome was Paul Horton (MV50) who finished in 1:07:52, which earned him 5 th place in his age category. He was followed by Emma Surridge (FV40) in 1:19:54, Ian Holmes (MV50) 1:20:30, Lucy Pearman (FV50) 1:30:03, Lynn Brand (FV60) 1:31:45 and Julie Chilvers (FV40) in 1:33:08.
