February proved to be a packed and impressive month for Frome Running Club, with members tackling everything from gruelling multi‑terrain fixtures to fast 5Ks and scenic 10Ks. The month kicked off with the notoriously tough Slaughterford 9 on 1 February. This year’s multi-terrain race of around 9 miles of steeply undulating countryside was also race no. 5 in the Wiltshire Offroad Race League (WORRL). Paul Horton (MV60) crossed the line first for Frome, his time of 01:07:33 earning him first in age category. The Chard 10K The new year got off to a great start for Frome Running Club with the Chard Flyer on 1 January, a 10K road race that takes in a loop round Chard reservoir. Ronan Ferguson (MSEN) finished in a blistering time of 00:38:58, closely followed by Daniel Thomson (MSEN) in 00:46:33. Street 5K Wednesday 14 January saw the return of the Street 5K, the fourth race of the six-event series. Alex Fisher (MV40) was the first Frome runner to finish the five x 1K lap route in a time of 00:18:24 to bag first in age category. Bromham Pudding Run December 2025 started in a festive fashion on Sunday, 7 December with the Bromham Pudding Run, a fast flat 10k road race in the Wiltshire village of Bromham. First to finish for Frome was Alex Fisher (MV40) in 00:37:57, followed by Dan Gaisford (MV40) in 00:39:18, Annabel Litchfield (FSEN) in 00:40:44, and Keith Vance (MV50) in 00:43:02. Paul winning The Black  Beacon 21 Mile race. November got off to stunning start with a win for Frome Running Club member Paul Horton at the Black Beacon 21 Mile Trail race on Saturday, 1 November. Paul (MV60) was the first runner to cross the finish line in this challenging race across the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons National Parks, posting a blistering time of 04:14:17. On the same day, Frome stalwarts Ellie Burford (FV35) and Vicki Trundle (FV40) took on the Dorset Hillfort Ultramarathon, completing the 38-mile route together in 09:46:50. FRC at Mother Tucker's 10K October started in fine form for Frome Running Club with a fantastically scenic trail race in North East Somerset on 5 October. Mother Tucker’s 10K is race no. 1 in the Wiltshire Offroad Race League and Frome turned up in force. Compton Bassett 5 Mile September was a busy period for Frome Running Club. The month got off to a monstrous start on 7 September with The Beast, a 13-ish mile trail race in the Purbecks. Two Frome runners took to the starting line on Corfe Common, with Paul Horton (MV60) finishing in 01:47:49 (for third in age category), followed by Ian Holmes (MV50) in 02:03:03. Frome at the Ham &  Lyme 50K July started in style on Saturday 5th with the return of a local(ish) favourite the Ham & Lyme ultra. This multi-terrain ultramarathon offers two distances, 50K from Ham Hill to Lyme, and 100K for runners who want to race to the sea and back. Three Frome club runners took to the starting line for the 50K, Ian Holmes (MV50) crossed the line in 05:45:16, followed by Clare Dunning (FSEN) in 06:12:05 and Ellie Burford (FV35) in 06:30:03. Sian Meaney (FSEN) took on the 100K challenge and finished in an amazing time of 14:26:00 to bag second female overall. June saw some incredible performances from Frome Running Club members, under at times challenging conditions with high temperatures throughout the month.  Westbury 5K Things got off to a speedy start on 1 June with the Gloucester 10K. Frome runner Daniel Thomson (MSEN) took to the starting line in the historic town of Crewkerne, finishing in 00:45:25. The next highlight in the June calendar was the AVR Westbury 5K, the second in the 2025 series of four races, and race 3 in the Wiltshire Road Race League. Frome fielded a strong team with Alexander Fisher (MV40) finishing first in 00:18:05, followed by Daniel Thomson (MSEN) in 00:20:24, Keith Vance (MV50) in 00:20:34, and Barrie Knight (MV70), whose time of 00:23:29 earned him first in age category. May’s racing challenges started on Saturday 10th with the Semington Slog, a 10K mixed-terrain race through the village of Semington and the along the Kennet & Avon Canal. First to finish for Frome was Alexander Fisher (MV40), whose time of 00:40:07 earned him 4th position overall and 2nd in category. Peter Reed (MV50) finished in 00:46:43 for second in age category, and Peter Clardy (MV60) also scored second in age category with his time of 00:54:18. On the same day, Frome runner Ian Holmes (MV50) took to the Ridgeway National Trail to take part in the Ridgeway 40, a 40-mile trail race from Avebury to Streatley-on-Thames. The Yeovilton 5K April started strong for Frome Running Club with the Bristol Track Club Race Day on Sunday, 6 April at the Odd Down Cycle Track. Alex Fisher (MV45) and Peter Clardy (MV65) both took to the starting line of the 5K race, with Alex posting a time of 00:18:50 and Peter 00:23:30. The following Wednesday, 9 April, saw the start of Yeovilton 5K series. Frome at the Spring 10 Mile Always a busy running month, March saw a slew of challenges for Frome’s club runners, with distances to satisfy long- and short-distance fans. First off, on Sunday, 2 March, was local classic The Imber Ultra, a 33 ½-mile multi-terrain ultramarathon taking runners around the Imber Range Perimeter Path. A hardy band of Frome runners took to the starting line with Paul Horton (MV50) crossing the finish line first for the club in 05:18:39. February got off to a hilly start, with the Doynton Hard Half on 2 February. Two Frome runners took to the starting line of this challenging 13.1-mile trail race. Emma Surridge (FV40) was first to finish in 02:19:22, followed by Ian Holmes (MV50) in 02:39:34. Frome at The Wiltshire 10 The following Sunday, 9 February, two more Frome runners headed over to Melksham for the Wiltshire 10, a ten-mile road race that follows a gently undulating course through Wiltshire. January got off to a stormy start for Frome Running Club. But snow, hail and race cancellations didn’t dampen the spirits of club runners who eagerly took to the starting lines of a number of local events. First to kick off the action was Daniel Thomson (MSEN), who took part in the Sir Walter Raleigh Third race on Saturday, January 4. Starting and finishing in the coastal town of Budleigh Salterton in Devon, this 8.4-mile route (third of a marathon) visited the birthplace of Sir Walter Raleigh and the countryside where he spent time as a child.
