FROME RUNNING CLUB OCTOBER RACE REPORT October has been a very busy month for Frome Running Club members who have competed in a number of races across the country, covering various distances and terrains. On October 30 th , Lynn Brand and Rachel Bala completed a 10 mile race entitled The Stickler. This involved tackling the infamous Stickle Path and ascending three peaks along the Stour Valley. Lynn finished in 1:49:25 and Rachel in 1:56:36.   Frome Running Club Race Report – London Marathon On Sunday 2nd October, six valiant Frome runners took on the challenge of the London Marathon. Thankfully the weather was kind for long distance running and the crowds were out in full force. We counted them all out and we counted them all back - thanks to the wonders of technology, we were able to follow them live which was hugely exciting for us all back in Somerset. We are so proud of all our runners, they all ran brilliantly well and all six finished this gruelling course, raising a huge amount of money for charity in the process.   Frome Running Club Race report September 2022 Paul Horton and Rachel Bala took on the challenge of the Great Bristol Half Marathon on 25th September. Paul crossed the line in a very quick time of 1:28:16. Equally impressive was Rachel’s finish time of 2:04:50. Paul Horton with his half marathon medal at the end of the Great Bristol Half Marathon   On Saturday 17 th September, George Leroy, Sally Brooker, Anne Porter, Ben Spicer ran a new Relish Running race, a downhill 10km challenge in Cheddar Gorge.   Frome Running Club Summer Report Frome Running Club was unable to hold the Mells Scenic 7 race this year, so instead, on Sunday 4 th September, 25 intrepid FRC runners set off in 3 groups to run the course and all returned! Thanks go to Vicki, Dave, Lynn and Ian for leading the groups and preventing anyone getting lost. Also, many thanks to Vicki and Lynn for the post run cakes!   Frome Running Club Race Report July 2022 On 6 th July Ted Sprules took on the challenge of the Chippenham Tri Midweek Duathlon which involved a 10 mile bike race and a 2 mile run. Sprightly Ted finished this challenge in a time of 55:01, earning himself first place supvet 60 and 11 th place overall. Well done Ted. The Avon Valley Relay is a 17 mile ‘pass the baton’ relay over four self-navigated stages along the roads and towpaths between Winsley and Trowbridge via Melksham through the beautiful Avon Valley.   It has been a busy few weeks for Frome Running Club with runners representing the club at a variety of races across the country.   On 10 June Ali Higgins ran the Lakeland Trails 10km at Coniston in the Lake District, finishing a tough circuit in a creditable 1:21.   Closer to home Jo Fordham represented Frome at the picturesque Broad Town 5 near Royal Wootton Bassett on Saturday 18 June, completing the course in just over 37 minutes and finishing as 5 th female overall, 2 nd in her age category.   Putting Frome Running Club firmly on the map was Paul Horton’s half marathon result in the Kempton Half Marathon which he completed in 1:29 , a PB, 12 th overall in the whole race and first in his age category (MV 55 -59). Amazing result!   Paul Horton justly proud of his medal and excellent result in the Kempton Half Marathon Bratton Hilly 11k The Bratton Hilly 11k race was held on a hot late Spring weekend.
